Adult males have imposing horns for their size. It has a very distinctive coloring and coat pattern: a russet-black coat with a white stripe on the nape of the neck that widens into a white saddle on the withers. Young males have light brown coats, like females. Only when their white saddles are clearly visible on a darker coat will they be considered rivals and hunted accordingly by the breeding male.
