Viego est un petit chamelon né le 2 avril 2022 à la Réserve Africaine de Sigean. Après une longue gestation d’un peu plus d’un an, et quelques semaines passés au calme avec sa mère Fiesta, Viego gambade maintenant allégrement à l’extérieur avec maman et le reste du troupeau de Dromadaires.

Comme le Chameau, le Dromadaire Camelus dromedarius (aussi appelé Chameau d’Arabie) est un animal spécialisé pour le désert. Progression aisée dans le sable, endurance, résistance à la chaleur, sobriété sont quelques-unes de ses qualités. Capable de transporter aussi bien les hommes que les marchandises, il sert également aux travaux agricoles ou à tirer l’eau des puits. Il est aussi élevé pour sa chair, son cuir et son lait. Sa fourrure est utilisée pour en faire des couvertures, lainages et cordes, et ses excréments sont d’excellents combustibles.
