When resources are sufficient, the Sarcidiorne can be polygynous. The male, then called “harem master”, mates with 2 to 4 females. The ducks lay in a common nest that can contain up to 50 eggs! After hatching, which is synchronized, all the females in the group take care of the ducklings.
