Like most skinks, the Fire skink is a burrowing animal that spends most of its time in the soil searching for prey. Its cylindrical body and its very smooth scales allow it to move easily inside the forest litter. If you want to see it, be patient and watchful : it sometimes comes out to hunt insects on the surface.
